Privacy policy
Last updated October 2026. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Business listings compiled from public data
Many listings come from open government business-licence data and OpenStreetMap. We publish business information — a business name, its category, its business address and contact details. We filter out licences that describe individuals rather than storefronts (rental housing, drivers and similar), and we hide the street address of home-based businesses. If a listing still shows your personal information, use “Report a problem” on it or see removing a listing; we remove it and keep it from coming back on the next import.
What we collect from you
- Account: your email, name and a hashed password, so you can manage your listings.
- Listings you add or claim: the business details you submit. These are public.
- Claims: the email you claim with, your role, and any note or document you attach. Documents are visible only to our staff and are deleted once the claim is decided.
- Reports and contact messages: what you write, and your email if you give one.
- Newsletter: your email and the consent you gave, only if you opt in. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Payments: Featured purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Cookies, analytics and ads
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, and Google AdSense to show ads on listing pages, which pays for the free directory. Both set cookies. You can opt out of personalised Google ads in your Google ad settings. A sign-in cookie keeps you logged in.
Who we share it with
Service providers that run the site for us: our hosting provider, Resend (email), Stripe (payments), Google (analytics and ads) and Cloudflare (bot protection). We don't sell personal information.
